Our Story

We met at a halloween party in San Francisco alongside many of you, nine years and one snowy proposal later, here we are.

How we met.

October 2017. A bar, a couple of birthdays, a room full of friends. One of us made an entrance: a full Woody cowboy costume, finished off with an improvised messy blonde wig. The other slipped in wearing a maroon sweater with a lone "5" on the chest, having decided that was enough effort for the night. Can you guess who was who?

We couldn't find a single photo from that night, so you'll have to trust us…

Everything in between.

Everything after that is harder to summarize, because most of it was ordinary in the best way. We got our first place together, a creaky SF Victorian in NOPA, and started building our life together. Joanna taught Danny to slow down, that a homemade dinner is better than just a protein shake. Danny helped Joanna find the joy in building small routines, from post-dinner walks around the same neighborhood block to turning at least a few pages of a book before bed.

Along the way, we've seen a fair bit of the world together through our adventures, from the Sahara under a full sky of stars, to backpacking through the trails of Patagonia, to swimming in the Great Barrier Reef… and drinking mule wines through Christmas markets in Eastern Europe.

After a brief stint in Boulder, we have settled back into the bay and now call Redwood City our home.

A snowy morning in Whistler.

March 17th, 2025. Danny had planned it for four months: a helicopter up to the glaciers, an engagement ring and a bottle of champagne waiting at the top. The morning was a perfect bluebird ski day, and then, by noon, the weather had other ideas. A clear sky turned into a whiteout snowstorm and grounded the whole plan.

Scrambling for backup options, he somehow convinced a now suspicious Joanna out into the snowstorm and down to the frozen lake where the photographers waited. He'd written a speech, and like everyone warned him beforehand, he'd forgotten every word the moment it mattered. Joanna said yes anyway.

Now here we are.

More than a year later, we're asking everyone we love to spend a weekend with us to celebrate our wedding together on the California coast.
